Tomorrow

I am now a South African Jewish Israeli. I have always had a deep love and connection for Israel on that dreadful morning I was residing in Rishon Letzion with my family when the war broke out. I have been traumatised and deeply affected by the massacre of October 7 2023, as have most of us around the world. Not knowing there would be a war, I accepted a job back in South Africa and was booked to return on 11 October 2023. I felt a huge sense of loss and betrayal towards Israel leaving at such a time, not knowing what could or would happen next. Returning to a country I had grown up in that has been brainwashed with anti-Semitism, I could only think of trying to be louder than the lies and hate, to show I am just as proud to be a Jew now as my ancestors were so many years ago. I wanted a way to express how I have been feeling for exactly 1.5 years tomorrow morning at 06:29 when my life changed. I designed my Israeli map that I will wear with pride throughout my life for all to see, but that is not enough so I put pen to paper like so many other people, to express myself, to spread the truth and a message of hope. We might be scattered around the world and our lives might be completely different but we as JEWs will dance again.
